FAI-PA — Human-centered AI for the training of public employees
Project "Nuove competenze per la PA: human-centered AI nella formazione dei dipendenti pubblici (FAI-PA)", funded by the Italian Dipartimento della Funzione Pubblica. Budget: €99,555.50. I was Co-Investigator. Duration: 2023–2025.
AI for Sustainable Futures (AI4SF) PhD program
I am a faculty member of the Dottorato di Ricerca in AI for Sustainable Futures at the University of Bergamo, recently approved by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). Within the program, I am responsible for the curriculum "Participatory development of AI models, methods and applications". I contributed to the design of the PhD program as a member of the working group that proposed it.

HEXAGON — Highly-specialized EXact Algorithms for Grid Operations at the National level
PRIN-PNRR project (code P20227CTY3_02 - CU F53D23009990001), funded by the EU's Next Generation EU initiative and the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). Total budget: €232,300. I was the local-unit leader at the University of Bergamo, developing algorithms for problems of electricity transmission/distribution and investment in energy capacity, using single- and multi-level optimization, linear and nonlinear programming, and game-theoretic techniques. Duration: 2023–2025.
Space-time graph convolutional neural networks (ST-GCN)
Project "Space-time graph convolutional neural networks: learning and predicting time-varying graph relationships with applications to the air transportation sector", funded by the University of Bergamo (biennial experienced research fellowship, 2023 call). Budget: €64,800. I was the Principal Investigator; the project funded the research fellowship of Dr. G. Andreana. Duration: 2023–2025.

Project "Nuovi schemi collaborativi tra Università e Uffici Giudiziari per il miglioramento dell'efficienza e delle Prestazioni della giustizia nell'Italia NordOvest", funded by the Italian Ministry of Justice (PON Governance 2014–2020). I was a local-unit investigator at the University of Bergamo.
Economic Ageing of Transformers
Project funded by the National Grid (UK). Total budget: £446,814. I developed optimization algorithms for assessing the economical impact of updating the ratings of electrical transformers. Duration: 2020–2021.
Royal Society & China NSF International Exchange Grant
International exchange grant funded jointly by the UK Royal Society and the Chinese National Science Foundation. Budget: £12,000. Duration: 2020–2022.
VINO — Virtual Network Optimization
Project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), carried out at RWTH Aachen University. Focused on virtual network embedding and robust network optimization. Duration: 2013–2016.

Project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy (BMWi), in collaboration with industrial partner ProCom GmbH and RWTH Aachen University. Duration: 2014–2016.

DECEMbRIA — Decisions in health-care emergencies
Project funded by the Lombardy Region Health-care Directorate-General (Italy), in collaboration with the 118 Emergency Service operations center and Politecnico di Milano. Focused on decision support systems for patient evacuation in mass-casualty emergencies. Duration: 2008–2010.
